It's been a long time coming, and even on Saturday the weather could have tried harder. The first indigo workshop of Summer 2016.
Gazebo in place, just in case of rain, and it did, accompanied by gusts of cold wind. Not ideal really, but we are made of stern stuff!
The vat was insulated with a blanket and placed in a bin bag, ready for dipping and dyeing before lunch. It soon became cold and died.
After lunch another vat was made up, and the heavens opened. There were the occasional sunny moments, which was nice.
Despite all that nature threw at us we had a great day and wonderful cloth came out of the vat.
Jane's linen previously pole wrapped and dyed. Rewrapped and dyed again
oh look, little shafts of sunlight - indigo cloth everywhere and it's gorgeous
the pesky job of removing chick peas because you have to when this is your first indigo dyeing session
you need to know what has happened!
