I thnk I mentioned a trip to India! We returned home last week, so it's catch up time. it was a very different trip this time, and we were fortunate that we know Rajasthan well and have many friends all over the state. Mr. Modi, the President, declared overnight that all 100 and 500 rupee notes (£5/£10) would no longer be legal tender from the next day, in an attempt to catch people with 'black money'.. It created confusion everywhere. The new notes hadn't been printed. Huge queues at Banks and ATM machines, either paying in old money and coming out with 'bricks' of 100 rupee notes. We arrived a week later and the situation hadn't changed. There were tales of tourists spending days trying to get cash, and seeing more of the inside of a bank or the outside of an ATM machine. A 'doggy bag' of goodies from the plane's pantry got us through the four hour wait for our flight to Udaipur. Very strange not having any useable money! Ah, Udaipur. We arrived to see the the Lake Palace looking beautiful in the sunset.later we enjoyed the view across Lake Pichola to Ganguar Ghat, sipping a welcomed beer!I'll leave you for now with a picture of Indian door, and send all good wishes for Christmas and the New Year. I think right now I should really concentrate on preparing for the festive season!
There are more photos on Instagram and there will be another post very soon. Tiggy
